wow
WE have witnessed many Florida National Champions in our lifetimes. The Marlins (1997 and 2003), The Hurricanes (Football/Baseball countless times), The Heat (2006), UF Basketball (2006), Florida State whatever, but nothing could compare to what we witnessed tonight.
First off, we are not Gator fans. If you've read our blog for some time, you would know taht we consider the Gator nation to be a bunch of assholes.
Despite that, tonight was amazing.
The seriously underdogged Gators took on the supposedly unstoppable Buckeyes. But tonight wasnt about OSU or UF. Tonight was about revenge against Ohio State. Revenge for the 2003 Fiesta Bowl against Miami. And revenge was served with a side of Sweet potatoes!
Seriously, forget about the game. Afterwards, we (eric, stacie, travis, Andrew [inuit jargon] and lindsay [andrew's lady]) all walked to the cetner of town. Honestly, at times we ran. And shouted. Because there were about 10,000 other people doing the same thing. All running towards some place even though we didn't know quite where it was.
The stampede ended at Universtity and 17th. The center of town pretty much. The street was packed with people as far as you could see in both directions. And people kept coming the whole time! It was pure bedlam. Dudes were up on street poles, dancing on roofs, starting fires in teh middle of the crowd, lighting fireworks off in the street, hanging out of moving car doors. It was just insane!
I really don't know what to say. Gator fan or not, it was an amazing event to experience first hand.
