: Forgetting to Wake Up :
: Morningbell’s Sophomore Effort :
We started this album almost immediately after the completion of “Montage.” The title comes from a line in the song “Perspective,” and accurately reflected the feeling of the entire recording process. in no way was the title intended to have any figurative connection with the band name. After scrapping half a dozen songs, arguing over lyrics, debating chord changes, questioning unorthodox instrumentation, and losing a band member, we somehow managed to wake up and create something that we are proud of.
As with the previous album, much of the content came from songs written years ago. Other songs were written together and developed over the months of recording. And some were actually written, recorded, and mixed in a matter of days as inspirado occasionally peeked its head through the clouds.
What does it mean? Well, if I had to come up with something clever, I’d say the album is about the feeling you get after breaking out of an intense period of frustration. You finally see the light through the clouds and realize that all the crap you just endured was well worth it.
The album artwork mixed my (Eric) usual accidental thematic content with intentional graphic design. While some pictures were taken intentionally with the album’s theme in mind, others were randomly selected from my collection of photographs.
We feel that this effort surpasses Montage in quality, both technically and musically. We hope you enjoy it, as it is the result of an intense year of work.
